Interested in joining the Cooksville Volunteer Fire Department? We’re always looking for dedicated individuals to help serve our community. Becoming a firefighter with us is a rewarding way to give back, and the process to get started is straightforward.
Our department is proud of its diverse team, bringing together members of all ages and backgrounds. Nearly 30% of volunteer firefighters in communities like ours are 50 years or older, proving it’s never too late to start.
Whether you’re interested in Firefighting, Rescue, Medical, Drone Operations, or Administrative Support, there’s a role for everyone.
Here’s how to apply:
1. Stop by during our Tuesday night meetings:
The best way to get more information and start the process is to visit us in person. We meet every Tuesday night from 7-8pm at the station. You’ll be able to pick up an application and talk directly with our members and officers to get a feel for the department.
2. No experience necessary:
You don’t need any prior experience to join. We provide all the necessary training and equipment, and most of the training is handled by community colleges in the area at no cost to you. If you’re willing to learn and dedicated to serving the community, we’d love to have you.
3. Submit your application:
After filling out your application, we’ll conduct a background check and drug test. You’ll also meet with some of our senior officers for an informal interview, where they’ll explain how the station operates and what training you’ll need to complete.
4. Get started with training:
Once accepted, we’ll guide you through the required training to ensure you’re fully prepared. Our department and local community colleges will equip you with everything you need to become a firefighter.
